Traffic diversion for temple car festival today

The Coimbatore City Police have made changes in vehicle movement on Wednesday on account of the Koniamman Temple car festival.

A release from the city police said that the new traffic pattern would be in force between noon and 8 p.m.

Vehicles moving from Palakkad Road to the city via Ukkadam should take either Valangkulam Bypass Road or Perur Bypass Road. Vehicles from Avinashi Road Flyover and Lanka Corner to Palakkad Road should take Valangkulam Bypass Road to reach Ukkadam to proceed further.

Buses, however, should proceed via Town Hall to reach Ukkadam. But, from Town Hall, vehicles would not be allowed to enter Vysial Street or Oppanakkara Street.

Of the vehicles proceeding from Avinashi Road Flyover to Thadagam Road or Mettupalayam Road, lorries and mini lorries should take Brooke Bond Road. They would not be allowed to proceed to Sukhrawarpet Road.

All vehicles from Mettupalayam Road should take Brooke Bond Road to reach the Avinashi Road Flyover to proceed further. Those proceeding from Thadagam Road to Palakkad Road should take Ponnaiahrajapuram Road, Chokkampudur Road, Ramamoorthi Pathai to reach Shivalaya Theatre, Perur Bypass Road and Ukkadam to proceed further.

All vehicles entering the city from Perur should proceed via Ukkadam Bypass Road to reach Ukkadam or take Shivalaya Theatre Road, Ramamoorthi Pathai, and Chokkampudur Road to proceed further.

As for lorry movement in the city, the release said that for a day, there would a temporary ban on lorries entering Raja Street, Range Gowder Street, Edayar Street, Thomas Street, Oppanakkara Street, Vysial Street, Big Bazaar Street and Karuppa Gounder Street.

However, after 8 p.m. lorries would be allowed to enter the aforementioned streets.
