‘TN, a breeding ground for extremists’

Tamil Nadu was fast turning out to be a breeding ground for extremists, Hindu Munnani leader Ramagopalan alleged here on Friday, after inspecting the site for the organisation’s seventh state conference.

Camps

Ramanathapuram, Dindigul, Theni, Cuddalore, Coimbatore and a few other places were the places the extremists were setting up camps, he said and urged the State Government to tackle the problem with an iron hand.

The two Dravidian parties, when in power, attempted to thrust English on students in government schools at the cost of Tamil. This had led to a situation where there was the danger of the language taking the downward path. To arrest the reversal, the Government should enact a legislation making Tamil compulsory in all schools till the elementary level.

Mr. Ramagopalan also criticised the Government for not doing enough to protect cattle.

Cattle slaughter

On the one hand the Government gifted cattle to people to improve their livelihood and on the other it failed to act against those engaged in illegal transport of cattle and slaughter.
