The Anti Land Grab Cell of the Coimbatore City Police on Sunday arrested three persons on charges of involvement in a fraudulent land sale. According to the police, R. Manokaran, a resident of Perur, had purchased three cents of land at Chettipalayam village from S. Radhayukmani and her husband M. Sivakumar, who jointly owned the land. The sale was registered on August 1, 2011. However, it later emerged that Radharukumani had allegedly hired C. Thangavelu from Sivananda Colony, to impersonate her husband. The sale was organised by M. Muthiah and B. Rukumani, both residents of Ganapathy besides N. Umarani of Keeranatham Post and Mohanasundaram, who had brokered the deal. Based on a complaint from Manokaran, the Anti Land Grab Cell registered a case and invoked sections 120 (b)(criminal conspiracy), 419 (cheating by impersonation), 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of the Indian Penal Code.

The Cell have arrested Radharukumani, Thangavel and Muthiah. The police are on the lookout for Umarani, Rukumani and Mohasundaram who are absconding.
