Three tourists from Udhagamandalam drowned in the waters off the Bommayarpalayam beach near Auroville on Saturday.
According to police, a group of nine persons from Udhagamandalam came to the beach. When Raghu, Ashok Kumar (31) and Pradeep (24) ventured into the waters, they were pulled in by a huge wave. Hearing their cries for help, the group alerted the local fishermen and the police. While the body of Raghu washed ashore (27), the police have launched a search for Ashok Kumar and Pradeep. A case has been registered and investigations are on.
