Three cases of women harassment filed

The police have arrested a person and are on the lookout for several others in three cases of harassing women.

According to the police, a 30-year-old woman of Achipatti near Pollachi was working as typist for G. Dharmaraj (30) of Talakkarai near Pollachi.

He had allegedly summoned the woman to his cabin on Saturday around 11.30 a.m. and attempted to misbehave with her. He had also threatened her.

On a complaint from the woman, the Pollachi town police registered a case and invoked Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 506 (ii)(criminal intimidation) read with section 4 of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 1998.

Arrested

Dharmaraj has been arrested and remanded in custody.

Further investigations are on.

In another case, P. Murugammal (38) of Perumalpuram was allegedly abused by three of her relatives - K. Paulraj, R. Devaraj and S. Perumal.

The Aliyar police on Saturday registered a case and invoked sections 294 (Obscene acts in public places), 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation) read with section 4 of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 1998.

Reena Rose Mcdalin (31) of Sedapalayam near Somanur had filed a police complaint against her husband and in laws alleging that they were harassing her and demanding dowry.

According to the police, the complainant got married to A. Loordu Thangaraj (34) on May 5, 2010.

Since then, Thangaraj and his parents Anthony Goose and Josephin Fernad had allegedly been demanding dowry and threatening her.

The All Women Police Station East registered a case on Saturday and invoked Sections 498 (a) (Husband or relative of husband subjecting the wife to cruelty), 506 (i) (criminal intimidation) and Section 4 of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 1998.

Further investigations are on.
