Thambi Durai foraying into my turf, says DMK MLA

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MLA from Krishnagiri constituency T. Senguttuvan has raised questions of propriety and exceeding of brief against Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha and All India Anna Dravida Munntra Kazhagam leader M. Thambi Durai for his regular ‘forays’ into Krishnagiri, a constituency that he does not represent. Mr. Thambi Durai represents Karur Lok Sabha constituency.

Mr. Senguttuvan has asked if Mr. Thambi Durai would step into Varanasi (Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Parliamentary constituency) and review the functioning of the government offices there.

The trigger for the DMK MLA’s barb was Mr. Thambu Durai’s recent ‘inspection and review’ of the block development office in Krishnagiri. He accused the Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker of ‘random reviews’ and inspections of government offices and summoning of official meetings here.

Besides accusing Mr. Thambi Durai of impropriety, the DMK MLA also lashed out at him for stealing the spotlight over the work done by the local MLAs. “The local MLAs push for new ration shops through their funds, and he [Thambi Durai] inaugurates them. But, what is startling is the participation of government officials without as much as an invite to the local MLA. His constituency is Karur and he is free to do all inspections in his constituency,” he told
