Residents have been complaining that customers to the shop create nuisance on the road and also threaten passers-by. They said that liquor bottles were broken on the road and customers squat on the road causing inconvenience to them.

Despite submitting many petitions to the district administration demanding closure of the shop, no action was taken. Though the shop is located 97 metres from the State Highway and 70 metres from the school, the Supreme Court’s order was violated and the shop continued to function.

Members of DYFI and AIDWA staged various protest demanding closure of the shop after which officials assured them that the shop would be closed within 30 days. However, no action was taken.
