Hundreds of students thronged the Science Express, a 16-coach air-conditioned train showcasing features of biodiversity, on Platform 6 of the Coimbatore Railway Junction on Tuesday. The students waited for hours to board the mobile exhibition train to get information about the mysteries of science.
District Collector M. Karunagaran inaugurated the exhibition and Divisional Railway Manager, Salem, Sujatha Jeyaraj and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager K.P. Damodaran visited the exhibition.
Students from 33 matriculation and seven government schools had a visual treat today. They were briefed about the exhibits by a team of 35 science communicators from Vikram A. Sarabhai Community Science Centre.

The special train has pavilions on Trans-Himalaya and Himalayas, Gangetic Plain, North-East region, Western Ghats, Indian Desert and Semi-Arid Zone, Deccan Peninsula, The Coasts and the Islands. Pavilions on climate change, water and bio-diversity also attracted many students.
What was more interesting for the visitors was the Joy of Science Lab for a hands-on experience for senior students and a kids’ zone where the children had similar experience in making toys.
The students were thrilled to see the demonstration on various theories in science . Kids Zone had displays on Wonders in Nature, Parking Puzzle, Story Time, explanations on solar, lunar and mathematics.

The last day of the expo at Coimbatore will be Friday.
