Special prayers for Jayalalithaa

Former Mayor S.M. Velusamy offered prayers for Jayalalithaa’s reinstatement as Chief Minister.

On Saturday, Mr. Velusamy organised ‘Vishnu Sahasranama’ parayanam (chanting) at a wedding hall on Trichy Road.

P.K. Janardhanan, a member of Vishnu Sahasranama Mandali, said that the organisation’s members performed the ‘Vishvaksena puja and carried out the Vishnu Sahasranama parayanam in front of the idols of Vishnu, his consort and Saint Ramanujar.

Around 300 members chanted from 8 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.

Every weekend, the members would assemble at any of the Vaishnavite temples in and around Coimbatore to chant, he added.

Coimbatore Corporation councillors and a few others also joined Mr. Velusamy.

Minister for Commercial Tax and Registration M.C. Sampath on Saturday led a puja by AIADMK functionaries and supporters at the Kasi Viswanathar temple in Kandhal near here for Jayalalithaa. Among those present were Rajya Sabha member K.R.Arjunan and AIADMK district secretary S.Kalaiselvan.

The puja lasted about two hours.
