Six model polling stations in Coimbatore

A model polling booth being set up at the Government Arts College in Coimbatore on Tuesday.

The district administration has set up six model polling booths and six all-women polling booths in Coimbatore Parliamentary constituency.

At booth 88 in Panchayat Union Elementary School in Kavundampalayam in Palladam Assembly segment, booth 173 in Panchayat Union Elementary School in Kannampalayam in Sulur Assembly segement, booth 397 in PSG College of Arts and Science in Kavundampalayam Assembly segment, booth 157 in St. Paul Nursery and Primary School in Rathinapuri in Coimbatore North Assembly segment, booth 70 in Nirmala College in Coimbatore South Assembly segment and booth 235 in Ramasamy Chettiar Government Girls' Hr. Sec. School in Ondipudur in Singanallur Assembly segment, the administration would deploy only women polling officials and security personnel for women voters to exercise their franchise.

Likewise, in a booth each in polling centres in Arakulam in Palladam Assembly segement, Kathir Mills Hr. Sec. School in Sulur Assembly segment, PSG College of Arts and Science College in Kavundampalayam Assembly segment, St. Paul Nursery and Primary School in Rathinapuri in Coimbatore North Assembly segment, Nirmala College, Government Arts College and Corporation Hr. Sec. School, Ponne Street,in Coimbatore South Assembly segment and Perks Matriculation Hr. Sec. School in Singanallur Assembly segment, the administration has set up model polling booths.

A returning officer on condition of anonymity says the model booths will have a fresh coat of paint, carpet, display boards, volunteers to guide voters, a help desk and assistants for differently abled voters.
