Ramani’s Srishti Residents Association, Singanallur, has opposed the construction of a hospital on their campus.
A release from the Association said that their promoter had misled the residents that an open space on the campus would be developed as children’s play area or garden. The promoter had constructed a commercial complex and sold the same to a doctor, who planned to set up a 60-bed hospital and trauma care centre.
The proposed hospital would be only eight feet away from the apartments, traumatic for the residents whose kitchen and living rooms would directly face the hospital windows and toilets. The building was unfit for hospital as it did not have the required setback space and parking facility. The hospital authorities had reportedly created only 20 parking spaces, which was insufficient for a 60-bedded hospital. The Association was also told that the private driveways to the apartment would be shared with the hospital.

The Association also said that its members were concerned about medical waste, disposal of non-medical waste from the hospital and such other issues as the hospital did not have a septic tank. The hospital’s waste would be linked to the residents’ septic tank. They had taken up the matter with Collector M. Karunagaran and Corporation Commissioner G. Latha and were awaiting a favourable reply from the two.
