The Judicial Magistrate Court at Omalur on Thursday granted conditional bail to Seeman, founder of the Naam Tamizhar Katchi, in connection with the case of inciting violence against the airport expansion project at a public meeting.
Police said that Mr. Seeman while addressing a meeting in Pottiyapuram village near Omalur in May had called upon the people to attack the officials who attempt to acquire their land for the airport expansion project.
On a complaint preferred by Natarajan, VAO of Pottiyapuram, the Omalur Police registered cases against Seeman under Sections 143 (unlawful assembly); 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant); and 506 (1) IPC (criminal intimidation).

He approached the District and Sessions Court for anticipatory bail. The court while granting bail directed him to appear in the JM Court Omalur.
Mr. Seeman appeared in the JM Court and the magistrate K. Ramesh granted him conditional bail, directing him to sign in the Omalur police station every day.
Speaking to presspersons, Mr. Seeman said that the expressway project will not benefit any section and the government was taking steps to execute it without the wishes of the people. The government should not acquire the lands without the consent of the farmers.

Referring to the statement of Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami that the eight-lane road project was being implemented to reduce the accidents to save innocent lives, Mr. Seeman said that a large number of people die due to consumption of liquor. The government is not prepared to close down the liquor shops to save them.
