J. Nithya (16), a Plus One student at Government Higher Secondary School, on Wednesday died of injuries she sustained in an accident.
The girl, along with her brother-in-law D. Prasanth (22) of Karamadai, and friend N. Kowsalya, was involved in a motorcycle –van collision on the Coimbatore-Pollachi Main Road on Tuesday.
While the other two were killed on the spot after being run over by the van and a private bus, Nithya died at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on Wednesday. Chettipalayam Police said that the van driver R. Maikandan (26) of Othakalmandapam and bus driver A. Anbalagan (32) of Pollachi were booked under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code. They were arrested and lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison on Wednesday.
