N. Arun Kumar, who passed SSLC examination recently from Government Higher Secondary School at Iduvampalayam here, came up with a petition during the grievances redress meeting held on Monday alleging that the school authorities were not admitting him directly into Plus-One.

The boy, who came with his mother, told reporters that the authorities gave the transfer certificate to him soon after the completion of the course and said that he had to undergo fresh admission procedures to get enrolled into Plus-One.

The authorities asked him to pay Rs. 5,000 as fees even though it is a government school, he alleged.

The District Revenue Officer directed the petition to the Chief Educational Officer (CEO) for further action.

The CEO told The Hindu that the student might have applied for some self-financing courses run in the government school and hence, the fees been asked.
