Driving on Indian roads is a challenging task as people fail to adhere to road safety rules and hence the driving sense of the people needs improvement to reduce road accidents and fatality, Narain Karthikeyan, India's Formula One Racer said here on Monday.
Speaking at the ‘Safety Driving Week', organised by Indian Air Force Administrative College in association with Nehru Group of Institutions, Mr. Karthikeyan said that though infrastructure is much better, India continues to be the world's capital for death on the roads.
He added that driving even in six-lane national highways is a challenging task and accidents can only be brought down by creating awareness among the people on road safety rules.

He called upon the people to make Coimbatore as a much safer place to drive.
Mr. Karthikeyan said that motor sport is the world's most dangerous sport and even the availability of the best safety equipment like helmets, suits and safety gear did not prevent accidents.
He added that stewards continuously monitor the race for the safety of competitors.

Mr. Karthikeyan added that that it is proud for him to compete at the Buddh International Circuit held recently at Noida.
Air Commodore MSG Menon, Commandant, Air Force Administrative College inaugurated the event.
Mr. Karthikeyan visited stalls displaying vintage cars and bikes and interacted with students. P. Krishna Kumar, Chief Executive Officer and Secretary, Nehru Group of Institutions, naval officers, police personnel, school and college students participated in the programme.
