Rain lashes Dharmapuri; moderate rain in Krishnagiri

As many as five houses were collapsed in the rain that lashed the Dharmapuri district on Tuesday.

According to an official two houses were partially collapsed due to incessant rain that occurred on the whole day till night.

K. Angammal’s house in Vakuttupatti and A. Kamaludhin’s house in Mukkareddipatti village were partially damaged in Pappireddipatti taluk. It was also reported that a cattle belonging to Ms. Angammal was died naturally on Tuesday.

Mr. M. Palanisamy, Tahshildhar, Pappireddipatti taluk told

The Hindu that he had visited the damaged houses and consoled the affected families. He also said that the necessary assistance would be extended to the affected families as per the government guidelines.

Unconfirmed reports said that three houses were damaged in Kambainallur and Harur town in Harur taluk. No casualty or injury was reported from any part of the district.

Due to continuous rain, many roads were flooded and low lying areas were inundated with rain water. This poses danger of spreading communicable diseases in the low lying areas and water stagnating areas in the district.

The rainfall recorded in mm in Dharmapuri district were; Dharmapuri 39, Pappireddipatti 37, Harur 33, Palacode 24, Hogenakkal, 21, Pennagaram 15, Marandaalli 10, Chinnar Dam 19, Vaniyar Dam 40.2, Thoppaiyar 41, Thumbalaalli 24, Varattaru 53. Moderate rain was recorded in Krishnagiri district. Rainfall details were not available.
