Heavy rain continued to lash Coimbatore for the second day on Tuesday bringing down the temperature.
The following is the rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours that ended at 8.30 am on Tuesday:, Annur 2mm, Airport Peelamedu and Mettuppalayam 4.20 each, Pollachi 20, Periyanaickenpalayam 4, Sulur 5 and TNAU 12.80mm. The total rainfall recorded was 360mm, and average 30,06mm.
The following is the rainfall recorded in areas coming under the the Parambikulam Aliyar Project: Chincona 74mm, Chinna Kallar 98, Valparai PAP 63, Valparai Taluk office 65, Coimbatore South 8.50, Sholayar 80, Parambikulam 35 mm, Aliyar 16.4, Thirumurthy 3, Lower Nirar 70, Sircarpathy 14, Vettaikaranpudur 18.6, Manacadavu sluice 21.8, Thoonakadavu 29, Peruvaripallam 32, Upper Aliyar 6, Navamalai 6.4, Nallaru 11, and Negamam 12mm.

District Collector T.N. Hariharan declared a holiday on Tuesday in Valparai because of heavy rain.
Heavy rain in ghat sections resulted in ponds outside the city filling up. Water in Noyyal crossed the Chithirai Chavadi check dam on Tuesday noon.
Sholayar dam was receiving 3,087.38 cusecs of water and the water level stood at 83.85 ft as against the full reservoir level of 160 ft.

The water level in Aliyar dam was 70.10 ft as against the FRL of 120 ft, Thirumurthy dam had 49.89 ft as against 60 ft, and Amaravathy dam had 55.61 ft as against the FRL of 90 ft.
The Nilgiris
Heavy rain continued in the Nilgiris district on Tuesday damaging roads leading to traffic snarls.
A total of 573.60 mm rainfall was recorded in the district, with Avalanche, Devala, and Upper Bhavani receiving the most amount of rainfall. Udhagamandalam town was also affected as many roads Elk Hill, and Fern Hill were damaged. Traffic flow was affected.
The Theppakadu Elephant Camp in the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve remained closed for tourists for the second consecutive day.
