Rain improves storage in Coimbatore district's reservoirs

Coimbatore district recorded a total rainfall of 491 mm and an average rainfall of 40.92 mm on Wednesday improving the storage substantially in the Parambikulam – Aliyar Project (PAP) reservoirs.

Rainfall recorded in mm in the last 24-hour that ended at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday: Airport Peelamedu 2.30 mm, Mettupalayam 2, Pollachi 25.50, TNAU 1.20, Cincona 144, Chinnakallar 148, Valparai PAP 76, Valparai taluk office 88, Coimbatore South 4, Sholayar 114, Parambikulam 127.

Thoonakadavu 68, Peruvaripallam 50, Aliyar 6, Thirumurthi 1.5, Upper Nirar 148, Lower Nirar 148, Upper Aliyar 8.7, Kadamparai 14, VLP camp 76, Makkinampatti 18.6, Manacadavu 37.2 and Nallur 1mm.

Sholayar recorded a steep rise in storage, followed by Aliyar and Amaravathi dam.
