In an effort to introduce students to creating sustainability in food and energy sectors, Danfoss India has tied up with PSG College of Technology to establish its first Centre of Excellence on the college campus here on Thursday.
The centre comes with an e-learning portal to enable final year engineering students learn the nuances of developing innovative solutions in climate and energy.
They will gain practical knowledge at the centre by studying performance characteristics of induction machines, permanent magnet machines, generators, and variable frequency drives. Practical sessions will be made available to students and faculty of PSG Tech on the online training platform.

According to President of Danfoss India Ravichandran Purushothaman, the centre was an effort to cultivate a keen interest among the youth towards promoting sustainability as a practice to contribute effectively to society. “Through this initiative we seek to provide students with an avenue for experimenting with energy efficient technologies that can help change the present situation of energy demand to energy surplus in the country”.
Students would be encouraged to submit innovative project ideas and the best would be selected for the ‘Innovator Project Award’ and also allowed to work on those projects for the company at the Centre of Excellence and also at the company in Chennai.
Principal of the college R. Rudramoorthy said the tie-up with Danfoss expanded the academic resources of the college. It would open doors for students and equip them with a more practical learning experience to make them technically sound and industry-ready.
