Members of the Tamil Nadu Nursery, Primary Matriculation Higher Secondary Schools Welfare Association staged a protest here on Tuesday alleging delay in the process of renewal of recognition.

They staged demonstrations near the offices of the Chief Education Officer and the District Elementary Education Officer.

Association general secretary G. Krishnaraj urged the State Government to renew the recognition without ‘inordinate’ delay.

He alleged that the School Education Department officials were unresponsive when queried over the status of recognition files.

Failure to renew the recognition would result in students of these schools becoming ineligible to write public examinations of Class X and Plus Two this March.

The Association also urged the Government to reschedule Class X public examinations, which were to begin in March 5 to give more time for students to prepare.

“We demand protection as we are facing situations where private school teachers are attacked by the outsiders” said Mr. Krishnaraj.

The Association also paid homage to the victims of the terrorist attack at the Army Public School in Peshawar, which claimed the lives of 132 students and also nine teachers.
