Passport office bags award for fifth consecutive year

Coimbatore Regional Passport Office has bagged the best passport office award among the C category passport offices in the country for the fifth consecutive year.

In a release, Passport Officer S. Sasikumar said that the passport office that has jurisdiction over six districts in Western Tamil Nadu namely Coimbatore, the Nilgiris, Tirupur, Erode, Namakkal and Salem had received 1,47,121 passport applications and had rendered service to 1,45,350 services.

This marks a record increase of 12 % in 2016-17 compared to the previous year.

Mr. Sasikumar received the award from Union Minister for External Affairs Ms. Sushma Swaraj at a function held at New Delhi to mark the Passport Seva Divas coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the enactment of Passport Act of 1967.
