Over 6,300 appear for National Eligibility Test

As many as 6,389 of the 8,991 candidates, who had applied for the National Eligibility Test (NET), appeared at the five designated centres on Sunday. According to a release from Bharathiar University, the candidates took the objective-type general paper and subject paper – Part I and Part II – in the morning and the descriptive-type elective paper in the afternoon. And they included 108 differently abled persons.

Both the sessions were for two-and-a-half hours each.

The release said that there were eight observers from the Central Board of Secondary Education and four from Bharathiar University. Vice-Chancellor James Pitchai visited a centre.

At the Hindusthan College of Arts and Science, 2,306 candidates wrote the exam. In the SNR Sons College, it was 1,200, Dr. G.R.D. College of Science 1,402, PSG College of Arts and Science 1,674 and at the Dr. N.G.P. Arts and Science College, 2,409 candidates wrote the exam.
