As many as 230 students from over 20 schools in the district attended the C.V. Raman Scholarship Test conducted by C.V. Raman School for IIT-JEE at Saibaba Colony here, on Sunday.
The test for students in Standards VI-XI was to select 30 candidates for scholarship to join courses offered by the institute, said the P.V. Lakshmi, Director (Administration) of the institute.
Students of Standard XI who took the C.V. Raman Scholarship Test would be provided scholarships worth Rs. 2,50,000.

Those who score first five ranks would be provided Rs.15,000, six-15th ranks would be provide Rs.10,000 each and from 16-30 would be provided Rs.5,000 each, she said.
According to the organisers, the two-hour test for students of Standard XI included papers on physics, chemistry, mathematics and aptitude.
Students of Standard VI-X who take up C.V. Raman Entrance Test would be provided scholarships worth Rs. 2 lakh.

The entrance test had two objective papers, mental aptitude test and scholastic aptitude test, of one-and-a-half hours each.
This was the second year that the institute, which offered coaching for competitive examinations including IIT-Joint Entrance Exam, All India Engineering Entrance Exam, All India Pre Medical Entrance Test and National Eligibility Entrance, conducted the scholarship test, Ms. Lakshmi said.
R. Subalakshmi, Standard X student of Vidyaa Vikas Matriculation Higher Secondary School, said that mathematics paper was easy while she found physics and chemistry a little tough.
“My aim is to get into the Indian Institute of Technology. I hope I will get good marks in the scholarship test,” she said
