Ahead of the curtain going up on the season related activities in this hill station with the conduct of a three day Tea and Tourism festival at the Breeks Open Air stadium from Saturday, the district administration has launched a keep Ooty clean campaign.
The Nilgiris Collector Archana Patnaik has appealed to various sections of the society to help uphold the image of this popular vacation destination.
In tune with this a team of civic officials led by the Municipal Health Officer P.G. Bhanumathy carried out surprise inspections in some parts of the town and its surroundings and fined ten shopkeepers in Indunagar for littering. They have been advised to keep their surroundings clean by placing garbage bins in front of their shops.

Meanwhile the Tourist Officer, S. Dorairaj said that the stage is set for the Tea and Tourism festival titled, “Ootea Fest”. It will be inaugurated on Saturday afternoon by the State Tourism Minister S. Gokula Indira. It will be preceded by a jamboree in which floats of various departments would be featured.
