Automobile dealers make extra push to boost year-end sales

Several automobile dealers have announced offers for sale of vehicles during December. Though the Deepavali season discounts and offers would have just got over, there are several moves to boost sales at the end of the year. 

In recent years, drop in sale of two-wheelers in the city in December is between 30 per cent and 45 per cent.

Drop in sale of four-wheelers during the same month is around 20 to 35 per cent compared to the rest of the year. While the data available is for the core areas in the city, the trend is almost similar in the outskirts too.

The two main reasons behind customers showing reluctance to buy vehicles during December are: they prefer purchasing during the Tamil month of

Thai , considered an auspicious period and automobile manufacturers introduce new versions in January every year.

Vehicle buyers tend to link it with getting a better resale value. 

Aware of this factor, several vehicle dealers reduce the sales targets fixed for December and take efforts to push sales during this month.

Sale of cars and bikes will be up from January 1 and is at its peak during Pongal festival.
