Nine snakes rescued in two days in Coimbatore

Members of the Save Our Snakes Organisation with the snakes that were rescued at several places in the city.

As many as nine snakes were rescued from various parts of the city over the past two days.

According to K. Rathish of Save Our Snakes organisation, two adult wolf snakes were found in the office of Inspector General of Police. While a pair of rat snakes was rescued from a residential area at Ganapathy, a spectacled cobra was found at IOB Colony near Marudhamalai.

A Russell’s Viper was rescued at Kanuvai besides a bronze backed snake in KNG Pudur. A couple of rat snakes were rescued in Gounder Mills and RS Puram, respectively.

A total of 23 persons from the organisation were sent to rescue the snakes. Out of the nine snakes, only two were venomous while the others were non venomous.

Mr. Rathish urged the general public not to harm or kill the snakes. They could seek the help of Save Our Snakes by dialling the mobile number: 97873 32814.
