India International Model United Nations (IIMUN) hosted the Coimbatore conference here at the CS Academy for three days that concluded on Sunday.

A release from the organisers said 38 school delegations and 700 students participated in the event, which was perhaps the largest MUN in South India. The objective of the ‘Model United Nations’ was to create a platform to the youth and provide a responsible and credible medium to put forth their ideas.

The students teamed up in 17 committees representing the ‘General Assembly’ ‘United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation’, ‘Human Rights Council’, World Health Organisation’ and much more. They discussed cyber warfare, women’s empowerment and sustainable development, empowerment of vulnerable groups through access to ICT, legal, social and economic rights of sex workers, elimination and prevention of all forms of violence against women and girls.
