Sulur MLA K. Dinakaran of Desiya Murpokku Dravidar Kazhagam (DMDK) and family members, relatives and fellow villagers of those murdered at Sulur on Wednesday night staged a protest near the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on Thursday and refused to accept the bodies. This led to tense moments and commotion.

They were demanding that the police produce before them the three persons accused of murdering K. Rakkiayappan and his daughter late on Wednesday.

Around 125 relatives and friends blocked the Tiruchi Road right in front of the CMCH holding the police of not having taken any tangible measures to ensure safety of the villagers in the area.

They said that threat to life and property was on the rise and this was going unchecked.

Any action taken by the police brought only temporary relief.

Police officials held talks with the MLA and the kin of Rakkiayappan after which they dispersed. Around 50 police personnel were deployed in the CMCH.
