Milaap looks at tie-ups with more hospitals

Milaap, a crowd funding platform with focus on healthcare sector, plans to extend its tie-up with hospitals across the country.

Anoj Viswanathan, president and co-founder of Milaap, told presspersons here on Tuesday that the platform has agreements with 300 hospitals across 25 cities. This includes over 20 hospitals in Tamil Nadu (seven in Coimbatore). “By the end of this year, we plan to have tie-ups with close to 500 hospitals. With regard to number of cities we have to launch in some more cities, mainly in the north,” he said.

It has crowd funded nearly ₹300 crore so far, benefiting 16,000 patients. In Coimbatore, in the last one-and-a-half years, it has helped 400 patients to the tune of totally ₹2 crore. There are about 7,500 donors here, he said.

Milaap has dedicated personnel (associates), numbering about 40, in different cities to work with hospitals. It has also partnered with WhatsApp for notifications. “Social media has helped create awareness about the platform,” he said. It launched voice-based campaign during Deepavali season last year and this service has seen good traction in Andhra Pradesh. It is mainly for those who want to explain details of their case in the regional language.

Milaap has also started negotiating with select hospitals in Bengaluru to provide treatment to patients on its platform at a lower cost. This is on a pilot basis, Mr. Viswanathan added.
