‘Protect art forms'

Artistes should protect and improve upon traditional art forms, Daniel Premnath, Joint Secretary, Tourism and Culture Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, has said.

A release said Mr. Premnath, who was also the Secretary of the Rural Artistes' Welfare Board, was here to participate in the special camp, organised for renewing the artistes' identity cards.

To provide accommodation to artistes visiting Chennai for performance, the Government had initiated efforts to construct a building under the aegis of the Iyal Isai Nadaka Mandram. They could use it at a competitive rate. P. Hemanathan, Assistant Director, Salem, and Rajendran, Principal, Coimbatore Government Music College, were present .
