Logistics summit on April 20

Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is organising ‘Logistics summit and B2C Connect 2013’ here on April 20 to discuss the current trend in logistics, a crucial aspect in supply chain management.

In a press release issued here, Chamber president R.R. Balasundharam said that the summit would deliberate ways on transporting goods expeditiously at the lowest possible cost.

The Greater Chamber area extended from Palakkad to Karur, Salem and Dindigul, an area which had major manufacturing companies, tea industry, textile, garments, engineering, poultry products, sugar and agriculture commodities. “The region is surrounded by five ports: Chennai, Karaikal, Tuticorin, Kochi and Mangalore and has four Inland Container Depots. Salem was also fast emerging as a hub for logistics.” The topics that would be handled in the summit include inland transportation, coastal trade, rail transportation, air trade, logistics information technology and global supply chain efficiencies, he added.
