Lawyer E.T. Rajavel and his wife Mohana, wanted in two murder cases, were brought here from Kovalam in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday and produced before the Judicial Magistrate II Vijayakarthikeyan, who remanded them in judicial custody till December 23.
The Coimbatore City Police was looking for them for their alleged role in the murder of Manivel (45), a realtor in Ramanathapuram. Manivel’s land in Sulur was purchased by Mohana through impersonation ( Manivel was reportedly abducted and murdered). The land was then sold away. Four persons have already been arrested in this case.
Rajavel is also accused of murdering his client Ammasai (40) (when she came for a litigation).

Ammasai’s body was faked to be that of his wife in a bid to save Mohana from a case of cheating investors to a tune of Rs. 12 crore in a multi-level marketing firm in Odisha. The police have already arrested two persons. Rajavel cremated the body of Ammasai and obtained a death certificate in 2011 in the name of his wife.
Subsequently, the couple through a court direction managed to get the death certificate and relevant entries cancelled in 2013.

Special teams, which had kept tracking them in Chennai, learnt the couple were on their way to Kovalam in Thiruvananthapuram in a hired car. They immediately called the mobile number of the driver and alerted him. Smelling something wrong, the couple tried to give a slip but the car driver alerted the Kerala police who cornered the two.
On Friday, they were brought to Ramanathapuram Police station in Puliakulam.
