It’s celebration time for AIADMK cadre

It was a delayed display of happiness at the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam office here on Friday afternoon as the cadre wanted to make sure that they did not fumble as they did last time on hearing the news on the order of bail application of their leader Jayalalithaa.

Soon after confirming the news that Ms. Jayalalithaa had secured bail and that the Supreme Court had also suspended her sentence, the cadre started celebrations inside the party office, Idhaya Deivam Maligai.

Even as the cadre went about greeting one another, more party workers, councillors, office-bearers, and Member of Legislative Assembly T. Malaravan started arriving at the office. A few of those were busy calling sweetmeat shops for

laddu . Soon thereafter, the cadre move on to the Huzur Road shouting slogans hailing the party leader.

Burn black shirts

Councillors and party office-bearers, who wore black shirts soon after Ms. Jayalalithaa was convicted by a Bangalore special court in a disproportionate assets case, burnt their shirts. District Secretary and Mayor P. Rajkumar, who arrived later, said that the verdict and the impending of release of Ms. Jayalalithaa had ushered in Deepavali for the party workers. The distribution of sweets and bursting of crackers was part of the celebrations and the news of bail had only doubled their happiness as Friday marked the 43rd foundation day of the party.

Deputy Mayor Leelavathi Unni said that the women members of the party were happier as Ms. Jayalalithaa was one among them.

Elsewhere in the district, the AIADMK cadre burst crackers to celebrate the news of their leader being enlarged on bail.

Sources said that AIADMK workers in Pollachi, Mettupalayam, Kurichi, Kuniamuthur and other parts of the district also celebrated the news.

Foundation Day

Earlier in the day, Mayor Mr. Rajkumar garlanded the statue of party leader M.G. Ramachandran at the CTC depot on Mettupalayam Road to mark the party’s foundation day.

In the Coimbatore Integrated Court complex, AIADMK advocates burst fire crackers moments after the Supreme Court granted bail to their party's General Secretary Jayalalithaa. They also distributed sweets to passersby and raised slogans praising their leader.

Udhagamandalam

AIADMK cadre distributed sweets and burst crackers in various parts of The Nilgiris on Friday. Party supporters who were waiting with bated breath poured out and hugged each other. Processions were taken out in some places. Among the participants were many a women. Prayers were offered at a few places including the Kandhal Cross shrine near here. Tirupur

Members of AIADMK were in a joyful mood as soon as the news of Ms. Jayalalithaa given bail by Supreme Court poured in. The party workers and leaders like Mayor Visalakshi Appukutty and Deputy Mayor S. Gunasekaran, among others, distributed sweets and burst crackers in Tirupur city, Thirumurganpoondi and Udumalpet.
