‘Improve drinking water supply’

The residents of Kurichi gathered at the Coimbatore Corporation’s South Zone office on Wednesday to complain about poor water supply. They were led by Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s area secretary N. Prabhakaran

Mr. Prabhakaran said that for quite sometime now, the civic body had been supplying water once in 15 – 20 days. Until a couple of years ago, when Kurichi was a part of the Kurichi Municipality, the residents got water once in seven days. That was possible because the then State Government had launched the Aliyar Combined Drinking Water Supply Scheme. But in the three years since the Coimbatore Corporation has taken over administrative control, the residents had seen very little in terms of water supply improvement.
