Hindu Munnani cadre arrested

Lucky escape for passengers as driver loses control and bus rams tree

Karamdai Police on Wednesday arrested four Hindu Munnani cadre for their alleged involvement in pelting stones on a government bus.

According to the police, the four were taking part in a protest condemning the murder of Tamil Nadu State Secretary of the Hindu Munnani S. Vellaiyappan in Vellalore.

It was a narrow escape for all those on the bus as the driver lost control and rammed a tree after the stones were thrown at the vehicle.

Those arrested have been identified as Mahesh Kumar, Yuvaraj, Sathish Kumar and Gurudevan, all of whom were aged around 24. They have been lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison.

Separately, three more cadre of the Hindu Munnani, including two college students, were arrested at Perianaickenpalayam on Wednesday for threatening shop owners to down shutters.

The trio had allegedly threatened the shopkeepers at Chinnamathampalayam near Perianaickenpalayam on Tuesday

They have been identified as A Manikandan, 35 and two others boys aged around 19, all of whom are from Karamadai.

The three arrested persons were booked in charges of criminal intimidation and assault.

A motorcycle used by the accused was also seized. The two boys have been lodged at Borstal School at Pollachi and Manikandan was lodged at Coimbatore Central Prison.
