The Central Government agencies are keen on helping the wind energy sector to alleviate the problems of grid connectivity which affected their capacity to evacuate the power generated by the mills to the grid, according to M.K. Agarwal, Executive Director of National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC).

He was addressing valedictory of the fourth international wind conference and exhibition organised by the Indian Wind Power Association (IWPA), here on Tuesday.

The NLDC is a central Government agency that facilitates transfer of electric power within and across the regions.

“There were constraints two years ago in transmission grids in the country, especially in the southern States. Some of those problems have been resolved. A few more transmission lines are going to be commissioned in the months to come.”

He also urged the gathering to alert the relevant Government agencies while setting up power plants so that they could plan the grid connectivity.

“It takes around two to three years to plan and install a grid connection. Hence, the private power player must plan ahead and keep the Government planners informed.”

Mr. Agarwal also wanted the private players to carry out advocacy during the time when regulations are framed so that they could get the optimum conditions.
