Gram Sabha meetings

Social audit of accounts at the fair price shops in village panchayats will be held at Gram Sabha meetings to be held on Republic Day, says a release from the district administration. The authorities concerned would throw open the books for scrutiny.

The objective is to bring about transparency in distribution of commodities under the public distribution system, the release says and adds that if PDS beneficiaries have grievances they may air it at the meetings to get them redressed.
