Forest Department to conduct Wildlife Week competitions in Coimbatore

The Forest Department will conduct various competitions for students from LKG to college ahead of Wildlife Week to be celebrated in the first week of October.

Officials said that painting and quiz on the topic “Conservation of Wildlife” and oratory competition on the topic “Contribution of student community in conserving forests” would be held at Tamil Nadu Forest Academy at R.S. Puram on September 24.

Winners of the district level competitions would participate in the State-level competitions. The Forest Department has requested participation by students from all educational institutions in all the competitions.

The quiz competition at 9 a.m. is for students of class IX and class XII (group D) and college students (group E). Students of LKG to I standard (group A), II to V (group B), VI to VIII (group C), group D, group E, and the differently abled (group F) could take part in the painting competition between 9 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. Oratory contest would be held for group D on the topic conservation of wildlife and for group E from 2 p.m. For details, contact District Forest Office at 0422-2456911, Forest Range Officer, Madukkarai at 99944-49248 and Forest Range Officer, Coimbatore at 90470-66460.
