Forest college students to hold talks with officials

Students of the Forest College and Research Institute at Mettupalayam near here, who have been agitating for the past 10 days, are going to hold talks with the officials of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) and the Agriculture Department on Friday.

Coming under the banner of Tamil Nadu Forestry Graduates and Students (Welfare) Association, the students are demanding that B.Sc. Forestry be made mandatory for the post of Forest Ranger.

They also wanted to be considered for recruitment to the posts of managers and technical officers in the forest plantation corporations such as Tamil Nadu Tea Plantation Corporation Limited, Forest Plantation Corporation, Arasu Rubber Corporation, Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited, and Tamil Nadu Forest Research Institute at Kolapakkam, Chennai.
