An employment outreach centre where tribal youth in Bargur Hills would be provided online training for competitive examination was inaugurated at Government High School at Thamaraikarai on Wednesday.
The Erode District Employment and Career Guidance Centre are conducting coaching classes for youth to prepare them for competitive examinations conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission. In the last five years, over 250 youth who had undergone training were selected for various government jobs. The centre has over 5,000 books for the examinations and the youth can also access online materials free of cost at the centre. To provide opportunities for the youth in the hill areas, employment outreach centres were started at Talavadi and Kadambur Hills last year.
District Collector H. Krishnanunni inaugurated the centre at Thamaraikarai and youth in the Bargur hills can utilise the service offered at the centre. He said that tribal youth lack facilities to prepare for competitive examinations and they depend on libraries and coaching centres in the plains for the purpose. “The outreach centre would help them get trained as classes are conducted by experts”, he added. Also, written tests and personal interviews would be conducted to prepare the youth to face the exams, he added.
