Dog Show from May 4

The Championship Dog Shows, organised by the South of India Kennel Club (SIKC), will be held from May 4 and May 6 at the Government Arts College Grounds here.

The obedience test, featuring 33 dogs from the police and private dog owners would be held on May 4.

Speciality show by the Golden Retriever club too will be held, said Nagina Reddy, honorary secretary of the SIKC.

More than 343 dogs and 53 breeds from across the country have confirmed participation in the dog show with about four new breeds expected to participate in the FCI-KCI's 25th International Show, and the SIKC's 126th and 127th Championship Dog Shows.

Judges will be from Switzerland and Malaysia for the Championship Dog Shows, said Ms. Reddy, while the obedience test will be adjudicated by a judge from Mumbai.

The Nilgiris District Superintendent of Police, Murali Rambha, is expected to give out the awards to the owners of the most obedient dogs.
