DMK stages protest

Members of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) staged a protest in Gudalur on Wednesday demanding power connection to all those who had the public distribution system (ration) card. P.M. Mubarak, district secretary, said that during the DMK regime, the State Government had provided power connection to all those who possessed the card.

The protestors also sought right wages for workers in Tantea estates, basic amenities for their residential quarters and extension of health care facilities. Their other demands included Rs. 10 lakh as compensation to the kin of those killed by wild animals and complete support for those injured by the animals.
