Detained under Goondas Act

City Police Commissioner Amaresh Pujari ordered the detention of C. Manikandan of Erimedu, under the Goondas Act. Manikandan was involved in threatening C. Senthil Kumar at knife point. He was also found to be involved in many such cases.

Two killed in accident

L. Sanjay (4) of Ganapathy was killed on the spot, after a van hit him while he was playing on the road at Nehru Nagar in Peelamedu on Tuesday. The Peelamedu police have registered a case. In another incident, D. Kadir Narayanan (8) of SIDCO in Eachanari, died on the spot after he fell from the motorcycle his father Dinakaran was riding. The police said the incident occurred near the Eachanari railway gate, when a bus from Pollachi hit the rear side of the vehicle.
