Corporation schools achieve marginal improvement

The Corporation schools managed only a marginal increase in pass percentage in the Class X examinations this year, recording 90.79, an improvement of only 1.01 per cent from last year.

A total of 2,269 candidates appeared this year, with 2,060 clearing it. A total of 745 boys and 1,315 students passed the examinations.

With 497 out of 500 marks, S. Thejaswini of Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School at Ranganathapuram stood first among Corporation school students. She secured centum in all subjects but the two languages.

B. Mythreyei of Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School in R.S. Puram (West), stood second among Corporation schools with 496 marks. She secured centum in science, social science and mathematics besides 99 in English and 97 in Tamil.

Y. Rizwana Sulthana of Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School in Oppanakara Street, stood third with 495 marks. She secured centum in science, 99 in English, mathematics and social sciences besides 98 in Tamil.

The Corporation Girls School at Ranganathapuram has achieved the distinction of being only one of the 27 Corporation schools that sent candidates to Class X examinations to achieve hundred per cent pass percentage.

H. Vasantha, Corporation Education Officer, said that 184 students had scored above 450. A total of 11 students had achieved centum in mathematics, 40 in science and 36 in social science.
