Following instructions from the Chief Minister’s Cell and Corporation Commissioner G. Latha, the civic body demolished a club house and a swimming pool at Mint Homes Private Limited, Senthil Nagar in Sowripalayam on Saturday.

The structures were on the open space reserve the builder had handed over to the Corporation.

The promoter (Mint Homes Private Limited) had surrendered 27 cents in two stretches to the Corporation. In one of the two stretches, the company had not taken up any construction and had maintained it as lawn.

In the second stretch, it had built the club house measuring 2,000 sq.ft. and a swimming pool measuring 1,000 sq.ft.

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam member K. Ramasubramaniam had taken up the issue with the Corporation officials and also the Chief Minister’s Cell. Based on his efforts, the Corporation officials undertook a lock and seal operation in December last. Following fresh instructions, the officials had carried out the demolition drive.

The Corporation sources said that a few apartment blocks were incomplete and the construction period had extended. If the company were to restart construction, it would have to take the Directorate of Town and Country Planning and Corporation’s permission. And, if it did not, the Corporation would report the matter to the District Collector for necessary action.
