Complaint against real estate firm

Residents of Thomaiyan Street, Kavundampalayam, on Monday submitted a petition to the District Collector at the weekly grievances redress meeting seeking action against a real estate firm.

The petitioners said that the firm had showed them lands in Pilichi village, and collected about Rs. 1.50 lakh promising to register land in their names.

But after collecting the money, the firm neither gave the land nor returned the money.

The land has now been used for agriculture purposes.

Audit needed

The Aam Aadmi Party asked the district administration to conduct an audit of toll plazas.

Based on the audit report, the government should reduce the toll fee, and subsequently waive it.

Action should be taken against toll gate operators if they violated rules.

A monthly pass scheme should be announced for those living near toll gates.

All toll gates where targets were met should be closed down, the petition said.

Admission denied

The Education Protection Committee sought action against a private school in Cheran Managar for denying admission to a student.

The committee in a petition said that when the parents of the student sought an explanation for the Rs. 2,000 the school demanded, the school dismissed the student who was to join Standard II.

The boy had completed Standard I in he same school.

Though the matter was taken up with the school management, and the School Education Department officials nothing much happened.

If the government did not take action against the school, and the school continued to deny admission, the committee would launch an agitation.

Facilities needed

The residents of Pappampatti urged the district administration to provide basic amenities at the government primary school.

They said that the school lacked toilet. Garbage was accumulating in Ward 5 of Pappampatti panchayat.

Sewage was flowing out in the open.

The public convenience facility for women was in disuse because of poor maintenance.

More money should be allotted to the panchayat to take up more development works.

Probe sought

The Popular Front of India sought a probe into the suicide of a student of a private arts and science college. Steps should be taken to improve teacher-student relationship.
