Collector inspects works to close borewells

The administration has identified 245 borewells in over 30 panchayats in the district to be closed. It has commenced the process of closing the open borewells with the concrete lids and metal plates.

According to the administration, there are 152 government borewells and 93 borewells on private lands slated to be closed. Similar works of identification of borewells in the 10 blocks of the district are also being carried out.

Collector S.Prabhakar inspected the closing of open borewells in over seven pancayats. Earlier, local body officials were instructed to inspect the open and abandoned borewells and ensure the wells were properly closed.

Mr.Prabhakar inspected the works in Kattinayanapalli, Boganapalli, Megalachinnampalli,Thimmampalli, Kammampalli, Naralapalli, Bethalapalli, Periyakottalapalli, Agasthypalli and Ittikkal.

Further, the public are encouraged to lodge complaints and pass on information with respect to borewells in their respective localities on the administration’s number 04343-234444; or via whatsapp on 6369700230.

The Collector has entrusted upon the commissioners of municipality and corporation, and the secretaries of panchayats and town panchayats to conduct inspections and draw up a registry of the number of borewells and have them closed.
