His Ganesha is hand-made, but not in the conventional way. U.M.T. Sumesh has made a colourful idol using wax.

This automobile technician, whose hobby is to make figurines using wax, has made the idol to promote conservation of ecology.

“Though I normally make wax statues for different occasions, this Ganesha is special because the wax I have used is eco-friendly (then mezhugu). When immersed, it will not cause any harm to the water,” he says.

The normal wax needs to be carved using a blade, but the wax used to make the Ganesha idol was carved using bare fingers.

Sumesh took two days to carve and paint the six-inch idol.

He used water colours to paint the idol.
