A new building was inaugurated for the Anaesthesiology Department of the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on Wednesday. The building was constructed at a cost of Rs. 65 lakh. Till now, the department operated at post-operative wards. However, this separate building has been allotted to comply with the Medical Council of India norms.

Hospital Dean A. Edwin Joe inaugurated the building in the presence of Department Head K. Shantha Arulmozhi and other officials.

Besides classrooms and seminar halls, the building would also have a museum featuring antique equipment that students would have to identify during the examinations.
