Coimbatore Corporation on Friday hosted a meeting where officials from the Commissionerate of Municipal Administration took stock of the progress of the State Government’s scheme to regularise plots in unapproved layouts.
A release from the civic body said that Deputy Directorate at the Commissionerate, K. Gopalakrishnan, reviewed the number of plots regularised and the efforts taken by the respective local bodies to create awareness in this regard among residents.
Officers from the Corporations of Coimbatore, Erode, Tirupur, office of the Regional Director of Municipal Administration, Tirupur and Local Planning Authority, Coimbatore, were present.

The release said that in Coimbatore Corporation, 3,186 persons had submitted applications for regularisation. Of those the civic body had issued regularisation orders on 1,904 applications and was processing 1,282 applications, where it had asked the applicants to furnish more documents.
From the applicants whose applications the Corporation had processed, it had collected ₹. 30.51 crore as regularisation fee.
The release said Mr. Gopalakrishnan had asked the officers from the local bodies to take steps to create more awareness among residents and conduct special camp to boost the number of applications. He asked the officials to urge the public to make use of the scheme, which the Government had extended till November 3, 2018.
